Our Historical Antique Map Collection contains about 4,000 maps from which majority is online. The collection focuses on late 19th and early 20th century European maps, merely displaying former political map of the continent - Austro-Hungarian Empire, German Empire, Ottoman Empire, Russian Empire, kingdoms and republics of yesteryear and even their "future" states that had disappeared from the map not so long ago: Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia. Historic maps of some non-European destinations are represented as well. Collection categories include general maps, district maps and city maps and plans. Some examples are Europe maps, maps of Berlin, London maps, Paris maps, Russia maps, Germany maps, Saint Petersburg and environs maps, Hamburg maps, and Poland maps, etc. The collection can be used to study genealogy, mankind history and family history.

The historical antique maps are all direct scans taken from items we held as stock. Generally they are of 300dpi (dots per inch) resolution, which is fully adequate for offset printing. All the images are supplied as .JPG files with zero compression. Please note that as all these are scans of originals which are usually not perfect: for example some may show small amounts of soiling or stains, traces of former foldings, etc. We cleaned up the most major faults, but there can be other smaller faults visible in downloads or prints, being a part of their character. Those proficient with an image editor will syrely be able to clean up the images further if needed. We welcome any comments and feedback via “Contacts” pages.

We strongly believe that all map images stored in our system and displayed to you here are not copyright-protected by their origin. This is based on the general Copyright Principles worldwide; in overwhelming majority of lands the copyright age does not last over 70 years after an author's death (post mortem auctoris - rule) or publication date. However there might be some excemptions to the rule discovered by third parties - for example in such specific cases when a work considered as anonymous may keep protection by it's authors' heirs. Please let us known upon such cases immediately and we will delete such an image from public displaying.
